About Tom Hume

Thomas L. Hume, V has over 20 years of agency and client-side experience in business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketing. Tom has a deep understanding of strategic and tactical planning, graphic design, photography, web services and video – from concept through delivery.

 

Tom recently moved from the Boston area, where he led marketing and sales as the Director of Marketing for Fidelity Investments, the largest mutual fund company in the United States. Prior to Fidelity, Tom was Director of Marketing Communications for SmartTime Software, a HR technology provider.

 

During the '90's, Tom partnered with a commercial and fine art photo studio near D.C. and formed AG Communication/Hume & Resources. For seven years, the successful collaboration delivered full-service marketing support and commercial photography services to a variety of regional and national clients including MCI, T. Rowe Price, Time Life Books, The Washington Post, Smithsonian Institution and Comcast Cable.

 

Celebrate

Tom is active in many arts organizations including the Indiana Arts Commission, The Bloomington Area Arts Council, and other regional arts partners. He is the acting marketing/PR Director for www.IndianaArts.org , a state-wide arts web portal. Prior to his move to Indiana,  Tom has been  involved with the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Massachusetts Museum of Fine Arts, the NEA, and The Smithsonian Institution.

 

 

Creative Backgrounder

Tony ConradIn the '70's, Tom studied cinematography, communications and music at Antioch College under Tony ConradKarl Berger, Anthony Braxton, Richard TeitelAnthony Braxtonbaum, and Frederic Rzewski. After college Tom worked in documentary and news film production with United Press International and The Smithsonian Institution.

 


Performances

Tom has performed in concert with the Creative Orchestra under the direction of Anthony Braxton, and in workshops with Frederic Rzewski’s Musica Electronica Viva. He played keyboard and guitar with numerous groups and recording sessions working in styles ranging from jazz, avant garde and orchestral, to R&B, rock, and even country & western.


Awards

Communications and art projects under Tom’s guidance have won numerous awards including The Golden Quill, The Baltimore Arts Video Award, The Communicator Award, and Pensions & Investments Eddy Award.

 

 

 

Technical Backgrounder

Tom’s technical skills include design and production on Adobe CS2 in the Windows and Mac environments. He has internet marketing and web development experiences in custom web 2.0 application and database development, CMS, eCommerce solutions, open source customization. His team provides systems support and design in ASP .NET, SQL PHP, MySQL, Java, C++, Perl, in most server environments including MS and Linux. Common development applications include Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash, FrontPage. He also is proficient in film and digital photography, and has certified training in production, editing and lighting for film, video and still photography. His background in music encompasses 20+ years in composition and performance on digital keyboards and guitar.
